Abstract

|
Previous reports dealing with the small sella turcica were estimated only by the length and depth of sella in lateral roentgenograms.
Since the sellsa is a solid body and its third dimension(width) is quite variable, however, the sella size cannot be reliably ´estimated from the lateral roentgenograms alone.
The anthers studied cases of small sellsa turcica in lateral roentgenogram volumetrically using the formula V= (LxHxW) / 2 where V is volume, L is length, H is height and W is width and fould that these small sella turcica in lateral view were proved to be well within normal limits in their volume because their widths were larger in-relativity to the small length and depth.
